Rapture Sunwear by Cinzia Designs
It’s been five months since I first reviewed Cinzia Designs. You can read more about that review here.
Since then, Cinzia has introduced its newest concept in eyewear for 2009 called the Redeux collection. This vintage-inspired sunwear line debuted in January 2009 at New York’s Accessories The Show.
Redeux is slated to mark an important expansion in Cinzia’s ongoing success with upscale retail clientele. It also highlights the first release from Cinzia’s new specialty design duo, Lindsey Reisack and Megan Brown.
A seemingly unlikely pairing, Lindsey is Cinzia’s public relations coordinator and Megan, its liaison to manufacturers. But you know what they say about necessity being the mother of invention… with the company seeking to cut costs, employees were asked to create a new collection and both jumped at the opportunity.
As it turns out, Lindsey and Megan both attended design schools. Spending several extra hours a week working on the new collection while continuing to do their full-time jobs, designing became a passion for both of them.
Lindsey, whose background includes work as a fashion stylist and a costume designer, created Redeux along with Megan in order to reach a new younger, edgier audience. Inspired from a mutual passion for collecting vintage sunwear, the five-piece collection is retail priced at $150.00 and mixes the most sought after styles of previous decades with the fashionable colors and materials of today, while still maintaining the classic Cinzia standard of quality.
We received the Rapture sunwear in Black/Crystal from the Redeux collection. It retails for $150. Judging from the hipness of this pair of shades, I’d have to say I quite like this new design duo!
The color combo is classic – black and crystal. The crystal is actually a clear material with a silvery iridescence. The fusion of the two is chic, it’s timeless.
I love the size of the frame, it provides full coverage without being oversized. The shape is quite nice too. I’ve always wanted to have the big square sunglasses that have been sported by tons of celebrities. The problem is that style works well with oval faces only. Cinzia’s Rapture is perfect for square or rounder faces because of its tapered shape. It flatters a square or round face because it provides an illusion that makes the face appear more narrow.
I wear it with everything except gold jewelry, the silvery iridescence clashes with gold so I stay away from that. Whenever I wear gold, I go with my other Cinzia – the Playful Sunwear I previously reviewed. You can also check out the Brown/Cream version of the Rapture, it’s also a fabulous choice for gold-tone ensembles.
So what fits go great with this black/crystal pair? A silk maxi dress or a soutache trim dress, belissimo!
The Redeux Spring 2009 products include four other styles – Abracadabra, Cult Classic, Venus Flytrap, and Year of the Cat. Check them out!
