Sail Away Sea Glass Pottery Shard Bracelet by Danielle Reneè
A wife, a mother, a daughter, an old beach bum at heart, and the eldest sister to nine siblings, Danielle Reneè feels blessed to be surrounded by people whom she loves and who love her in return.
She set out on the adventure to pursue her passion of making sea glass jewelry in 2005 but it all started way back then; back when she used to spend many summers at her grandmother Mimi’s beach cottage along the New England shore.
Mimi and Danielle both loved everything the ocean has to offer – the sights, the smells, the tranquility of it all. Particularly, they enjoyed finding precious sea glass along the shore and shared a passion for collecting them. They both saw each piece as a jewel from the ocean and kept their treasured finds in the cottage where many hours were spent with family and friends.
Before Mimi passed on, she presented Danielle with their collection knowing how much she would appreciate it. Years later, Danielle would set out on her adventure and begin creating jewelry with these treasures tossed up by the sea under the label Jewelry by Danielle Reneè. Each piece she creates is unique and handmade with genuine, unaltered sea glass and has since expanded to include top quality natural sea glass collected not only from New England but also from Hawaii, California, Washington State, The Great Lakes, Canada, Puerto Rico, Bermuda, and Nova Scotia.
Danielle is a member of the North American Sea Glass Association and ensures that each piece of jewelry is made with only top quality natural and unaltered sea glass. A certificate of authenticity is included with all her pieces.
We received the one-of-a-kind Sail Away Sea Glass Pottery Shard Bracelet which retails for $140. The shard is vintage, tossed and tumbled in the North Atlantic and found on the shores of Nova Scotia. It is hand wrapped with bright Argentium sterling silver and attached to a heavy gauge sterling silver bracelet accented by an SS sailboat charm.
As much as this piece looks gorgeous in picture, it’s even more so in person! In the pic, the sterling silver looks almost matte but in person, it’s highly polished with a sheen that makes it really stand out. By the way, in case you need a little tutorial, genuine sea or beach glass is produced by discarded glass that has been naturally tumbled by surf and sand. Pottery and china sea glass shards in particular, are rare as many of these items were used in the early 19th century.
This piece is screaming for warm weather and is absolutely perfect for spring/summer. The white and blue color of the shard along with the sailboat charm gives off a nautical feel that makes me think of yachts, marinas, and the open ocean. The wire wrapping around the shard is unique and adds an elegant twist to the piece. Overall, it’s very chic, very upper-east-side. It exudes luxury, a piece that looks exclusive and totally effortless.
An attention grabber, this bracelet makes me feel special with all the compliments I receive when I wear it. The weather in Southern California has been in the high 70’s so shorts have been the outfit of choice for many, it certainly has been for me. This piece is adorable when I pair it with a swiss dot blouse, cuff denim shorts, and a funky tye-dye sandal. Try this ensemble out and you will be quite the fashionista.
Of course this is but one of many one-of-a-kind pieces from Danielle’s collection. Check it out, her work is classic with pieces that will last with you through many seasons. Modern but not trendy, truly beautiful gems of the sea.
