Thought Waves Necklace, Starfish Earrings, Swirls On You Bracelet by To Be Me Jewelry

Claire DeRosa used to strive to be just like everyone else.  As she got older, she realized the value of reflecting her own individuality instead of being defined by those around her.  With this mantra, Claired launched To Be Me Jewelry – a reflection of women seeking to define themselves, not by those who surround them, not by those who they take care of, but by who they are – unique, strong individuals who march to the beat of their own drums.

To Be Me Jewelry offers an eclectic array of designs that are handcrafted in Claire’s workshop by the New Jersey shore.  Her inspiration comes from many avenues – from nature’s colors to the color of the parkway sign off the side of the road.

She has no formal training but for years has enjoyed painting, stenciling, sewing, and decorating.  When a friend took her to a bead store one afternoon, her artistic juices started flowing and she was hooked.

Her work has been featured in Jewelry Wire Magazine and she lectures jewelry design at a local college.

We received three pieces from Claire’s jewelry collection – the Thought Waves Necklace, the Starfish Earrings, and the Swirls On You Bracelet.  Each piece comes packaged in a tarnish resistant bag that will last up to two years.

The necklace features a 1” hammered disc with an antiqued finish.  The disc is fused with “thought waves” of sterling silver and hung on a Greco leather cord.  This piece makes one ponder what one’s thought waves are.  It retails for $70.  The earrings have starfish designs stamped onto the sterling silver discs that are attached to French wires.  They are individually cut, hammered, and antiqued.  With an approximate length of 1 ¼ inches, each pair retails for $35.  The bracelet is made with Argentium sterling silver and cannot be duplicated exactly.  Each creation is unique and measures 7 ¼” in length.  It retails for $40.

These pieces are chic and oh so fabulous!

Starting off with the earrings – playful, whimsical, young.  It’s an everyday, easy to wear piece that is fun to wear.  I can’t wait to hit the beach this summer wearing this pair.  Of course, the warm weather has been hitting Southern California already so I’ve been wearing these babies with my shorts and jeans.  It’s casual and when I can’t quite find a good match for my ‘fit, or if I’m short on time, I throw these earrings on.  It’s a no-brainer, it literally goes with anything.

The necklace is great to pair up with the earrings, they go very well together.  I love to wear this duo with jeans and tank tops, especially the ones with scoop necklines like this embellished style or this assymetrical version.  The combination is effortless, relaxed but in vogue.

The bracelet is my absolute favorite.  It doesn’t have the hammered and antiqued finish of the other two pieces.  This one is more on the polished side.  It has an elegance that exudes more luxury than its $40 price tag.  The style is unique and modish, a piece that is identifiably designer.  I love, love, love this bracelet and so does everyone else who sees me wearing it.  High on the envy meter, this is a definite must-have for every fashionista and recessionista alike!

Claire has so many designs in mind and on paper that have yet to come to fruition, but rather than wait for those to come to life, check out the ones she has already created.  I promise you won’t be dissapointed.
