Shell and Faceted Swarovski Crystal Topaz Necklace by Chic Designs by Yvette
Yvette Jones has always been interested in art. Inspired by her mother’s artistry, she observed her sketching, painting, and drawing at home as she was growing up. The youngest member of her mother’s art class, her creativity blossomed the first time she put her hands into paint. Encouraged by her teachers, who saw her painting and drawing all through her school years, Yvette became an educator, a visual artist, an administrator, and a designer.
She has taught and created art for over 15 years and enjoys encouraging youth and adults strive to achieve their full potential in learning or creating in the Visual Arts.
On top of all that she already is, Yvette delved into entrepreneurship and launched Chic Designs by Yvette to showcase her own creations. To shape her patterns and designs, she uses sparkling rondelles, semi-precious stones, seed and glass beads. The vibrant stones in her jewelry reflect her belief that the stones link people spiritually.
Yvette designs jewelry and accessories for both men and women. Drawing from her own painting, sculpture and ceramics, her jewelry has both freshness and originality. Her flair for color, attention to detail, and well honed craftsmanship allow her to conceive designs flexible to the needs of her clients.
We received the Shell and Faceted Swarovski Crystal Topaz Necklace from Chic Designs by Yvette. It has a mother of pearl pendant accented on both sides by topaz faceted Swarovski crystal stones. The stones are linked by a goldtone chain and secured by vermeil head pins. It has a goldtone barrel clasp and it retails for $75.
I have seen many pieces of jewelry made with mother of pearl. I love the exotic island feel of it. What I’m not too fond of is most of the ones I’ve seen are either hanging from a rope or some type of wood, or is made entirely of pearls. The first style is very casual and the other is too formal.
What I love about Yvette’s necklace is that it gives the mother of pearl a very chic, stylish flair. It’s modern without being trendy, and a little blingy without being flashy. It’s just perfectly fabulous – a wonderful marriage of pearl and crystals.
The natural colors make it very easy to wear because it goes with just about anything. I also found that the necklace can be worn two ways. The first is to wear it with the rough side of the mother of pearl facing outward, as pictured above. The second is to wear it with the smooth side of the pearl facing outward. This gives the necklace a more polished, more formal look.
With the rough side out, it goes well with a pair of jeans and a tunic like this embroidered pansy v-neck by Free People.
With the polished side out, it’s great with a party dress like this strapless chiffon by BCBG Max Azria.
If you like pearls and crystals as I do now, this may just be the combination you’ve been looking for. It’s not available online yet, but if you contact Yvette, she’ll be happy to make one for you, and you’ll be very happy knowing you’re one of the first to have this very chic creation.
